Rutger Wants You to See Ray Rice Run
And run, and run, and run. No word yet on whether there will be a billboard in Time Square for Rice, but Rutgers has put together a web site dedicated to the star junior running back for the Scarlet Knights called SeeRayRun.com.
Before last season, Rutgers made a web site for senior running back Brian Leonard, brianleonard23.com, which doesn't seem to be working at the moment. At any rate, Rice stole most of Leonard's thunder by racking up an incredible 1,794 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns in leading the Scarlet Knights to an 11-2 record and their first bowl victory.
Of the other Heisman hopefuls in the Big East, Steve Slaton, and Brian Brohm have web sites dedicated to them, while Pat White has to settle for some blogger to do his promotions.
How much of this will really help as compared to what happens on the field is still a bit of a question mark. It certainly helps to get your name out there early. But at the end of the day it is what happens on the field and the ranking of your team at the time of the voting that usually seems to help more.
