Former Green Bay Packers defensive quality control Coach Eric Lewis was hired to coach the cornerbacks at the University of Louisville, announced Cardinals’ head coach Steve Kragthorpe on Wednesday.
Lewis joins the Louisville staff after spending two seasons with the Packers, who were eliminated by the New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Hired by Mike McCarthy in 2006, the 31-year-old Lewis joined the Packers after serving as the secondary coach at Ball State University for three seasons.
With the Packers, Lewis assisted cornerbacks coach Lionel Washington and secondary coach Kurt Schottenheimer. His duties include breaking down opponent game film as well as organizing the playbook and installation.
While at Ball State, Lewis coached former Cowboys safety Justin Beriault to back-to back first team All-Mid-American Conference honors (2003-04) and 125 tackles in 2004.
