The Louisville Cardinals' football team had one of the most prolific offenses in the Big East in 2006, leading the conference in passing offense (290 yards per game) and total offense (475.3) while second in scoring offense (37.8). With it, the Cardinals finished 6-1 in the conference and won the Big East title.
Because the Cardinals enter Saturday's road game against the University of South Florida with a 2-3 conference record, it's hard to imagine the offense is even better this year. But it is.
The Cardinals again lead the Big East in total offense (497.6) and passing offense (359.3) and are third in scoring offense (36.4). The total offense is third in the country.
Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm leads the conference in passing yards per game (357.4) and total offense (353.2), and is second in passing efficiency (157.6). His three receivers - Harry Douglas, Gary Barnidge and Mario Urrutia - are all in the top 10 in the conference in receptions per game and receiving yards per game.
Louisville also has 29 passing plays of 25 yards or better this season (32 plays overall).
That, coupled with Louisville's 31-8 demolition of USF last season, provide the Bulls (7-3, 2-3 Big East) with enough motivation heading into the contest.
